How To Reset KRA Password
To successfully reset your KRA password on the iTax portal, you need to carefully follow the step-by-step instructions outlined below to ensure the process is completed correctly.
Step 1: Visit iTax (KRA Portal)

The first step in resetting your KRA password is to visit the iTax (KRA Portal) by accessing the official website at https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal/
Step 2: Enter KRA PIN Number or National ID Number

Next, enter your KRA PIN number or National ID number, click “Continue,” and then select the “Forgot Password/Unlock Account” link to start the KRA password reset process.
Step 3: Fill the Forgot KRA Password Form

At this stage, complete the online Forgot KRA Password request form by entering the required details. Solve the arithmetic security question and click the “Submit” button to proceed. A password reset email will then be sent to your registered email address, which you should check to continue with the KRA password reset process.
Step 4: KRA Password Reset Email

Next, confirm the email address associated with your KRA PIN. The iTax password reset email, which includes your KRA PIN and a system-generated temporary password (acting as your old password), will be sent to this address. You will use this temporary password to create a new KRA password on the iTax (KRA Portal).
Step 5: Visit iTax (KRA Portal)

In this step, go to the iTax (KRA Portal) and enter your KRA PIN number or National ID number, then click “Continue.” Next, enter the temporary iTax password you received and click the “Login” button to access your account.
Step 6: New KRA Password Setup

The final step in the KRA password reset process is creating a new password for your account. At this stage, you will need to enter your Old Password (the temporary password sent to your registered email), choose a New Password for accessing the KRA Portal, and re-enter it in the Confirm New Password field to ensure accuracy.
You will also be required to select a Security Question, provide a Security Answer, confirm the answer, and acknowledge the necessary disclaimers. This includes ticking the boxes for “I Agree to the KRA Website Policy and Disclaimer” and “I have read the KRA Website Secure Password Policy Guideline.” These steps help maintain the security of your account.

Once all fields are correctly filled, click the “Submit” button. A confirmation message will appear stating “Your KRA password has been successfully changed,” and you will be automatically logged into your account. Finally, click “OK” to proceed, and your new KRA password will be fully active, allowing you to access the iTax portal securely.
